Russian President Vladimir Putin, in an unusual direct appeal to American readers, lashed out Thursday against “alarming” military intervention and said it was “extremely dangerous” for the United States to see itself as an exceptional nation, reports NBC News.
But Putin was also forced to issue a swift correction when news of the concluding words of his New York Times op-ed reached Russia’s LGBT community. When writing for US readers, Putin said: ”We are all different, but when we ask for the Lord’s blessings, we must not forget that God created us equal.”
For Russian audience, Putin added the words: “Except gays, of course.”
